ADVANCED RESTORATION, SECURE PRESERVATION AND BLOCKCHAIN-BASED CERTIFICATION FOR ARCHIVAL CINEMA
PRESERVING CINEMA’S PAST THROUGH TECHNOLOGY AND CARE
At Sala46 Films, we restore and protect film heritage using advanced tools and a deep respect for each work’s original identity.
From image repair to blockchain certification, we combine craft and innovation to ensure these films remain alive, authentic, and accessible for generations to come.
RESTORATION & PRESERVATION
We restore and preserve audiovisual materials of all kinds: complete films, unique fragments, damaged negatives, optical elements, magnetic tapes, and digital files degraded by time or format shifts.
Each project presents its own technical challenges, as well as ethical and aesthetic decisions. We work with care and precision, always aiming to respect the original rhythm, texture, and intent of the film.
Our restoration workflow includes:
-
Digital cleaning and image stabilization
-
Color correction and noise reduction
-
Audio synchronization and enhancement
-
Reconstruction of missing frames
-
AI-assisted tools for accurate, frame-level restoration
Technology plays a central role, but the human eye guides every stage. Our goal is not just to repair what was broken — it's to restore each work’s aesthetic dignity and emotional power.
We collaborate with film archives, public institutions, and private collectors, and we also develop our own restoration projects. Every case is approached with a flexible methodology tailored to the source material and its future use: screening, archiving, publishing, or digital exhibition.
CERTIFICATION & BLOCKCHAIN
Preserving a film means more than restoring its image — it also means protecting its identity.
At Sala46 Films, we’ve developed a digital certification system based on blockchain technology to register, secure, and trace the audiovisual works we restore or distribute. This adds a layer of transparency and long-term reliability to our preservation process.
Each certified work is assigned:
-
A unique cryptographic fingerprint (hash) of the final master file
-
A timestamp of the certification
-
Key metadata on the restoration process
-
Optional information on provenance, rights, or licensing
We use the Polygon blockchain for its energy efficiency, low transaction costs, and smart contract capabilities. Once recorded, this data becomes part of an immutable public ledger — a permanent reference of the file’s integrity and origin.
This service is available for both in-house and third-party projects, including those from archives, distributors, and producers.
In a digital world where files can be copied, altered or lost, our certification system ensures that what we restore is also remembered — as it truly was.

All films distributed by Sala46 Films are digitally certified. A structured metadata block, including the master file’s SHA256 fingerprint and full credits, has been immutably recorded on the Polygon blockchain as a permanent proof of authenticity, origin, and provenance.
DIGITAL SECURITY & CONFIDENTIALITY
Preservation doesn’t end with restoration, it extends to how materials, data, and communication are handled throughout the process.
At Sala46 Films, we use privacy-first infrastructure powered by Proton to guarantee secure storage, encrypted communication, and protected metadata exchange. Whether we’re sharing restoration masters, certifying files, or working with sensitive archival information, every step is managed with confidentiality and care.
This commitment to digital security reinforces our broader mission: to treat each work not just as content, but as cultural memory worth safeguarding, technically, ethically, and historically.
